Viewing measurement, by consent only.

This website (embisec.is; embi.is is an alias of the same site) is operated by Móholt ehf., Reykjavík, Iceland. It carries no advertising. Optional general website measurement uses Pirsch, operated by Emvi Software GmbH in Germany. The contact page provides a phone number and email address so you can contact us directly. It has no form and collects no contact details.

General website measurement

Only after you choose “Allow measurement”, public pages send a page path and referring website (without query strings or fragments) to Pirsch in Germany. Pirsch uses the network address and browser information to derive a daily, site-specific identifier; it does not keep the raw IP address. This is aggregate traffic measurement, not identification of a named person or company. We do not send invitation tokens, contact details or form contents, and do not connect these statistics to CRM contacts. Tutorial and editorial pages are excluded from this general measurement.

The first-party cookie embisec_analytics_choice stores only allow or decline for 180 days. You can change this choice using “Measurement preferences” at the bottom of public pages. Withdrawal stops future measurement, but does not remove existing aggregate statistics. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals disable measurement. See Pirsch’s privacy information.

Tutorial pages

On tutorial pages we ask whether we may measure viewing. If you decline, or do not answer, no viewing measurement is sent to our customer-relations system. If you allow it, we record:

• that the tutorial page was viewed, and when;
• that the video was started, roughly how many seconds were actually played, and whether it reached the end;
• that the next-step button was used.

We do not record your network address with these events, do not fingerprint your browser, and do not link visits across our websites.

Personal links

If someone at Móholt sent you a personal link, it carries a random label that identifies the invitation. The label is removed from the address bar as the page opens, is never passed to a video host, and is discarded if you decline. With your consent, activity is noted against that invitation in our customer-relations system. It tells us the invitation was used — not who was watching: links get forwarded and devices are shared, and we treat the record accordingly.

Your choice

Your answer is kept in a first-party cookie (emb_consent, 180 days) so that we do not ask again. Withdrawing stops future collection immediately; it does not by itself erase records already sent. To have earlier records erased — by the personal link you received or by your contact details — or for any question, write to bjarni@moholt.is. Consent to measurement is not consent to marketing; we do not add you to mailing lists because you watched something.

Where records are kept

We use cloud service providers for website hosting and delivery, and for hosting our customer-relations system and its database. These include providers based in the United States; hosting and support may involve processing outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including in the United States. Engagement records are stored in Móholt’s customer-relations system. Records are kept for as long as they are needed for the follow-up they concern and are deleted on request; a fixed retention period is being introduced.

Videos hosted by an external provider load only after you choose to load them; that provider then receives your network address, as any website you visit does.
